Daihatsu Terios facelift 2023 launched in Indonesia – Perodua Aruz sister SUV model has a slim grille, 6 airbags
Daihatsu Terios facelift just launched in Indonesia this morning. Terios is of course our sister car Perodua Aruzwith Toyota Rush. MPV model 7 seats 3 rows of seats SUV style first appeared in Indonesia at the end of 2017so this midlife upgrade is long overdue.
From what we can see from these livestream screenshots, the Terios now has a slimmer upper grille that connects only to the headlights (which now have a smoke effect). If before, the grille is a large bowl-shaped object With little separation between the upper and lower grille sections, the contour is now very clear. The lower grille is also much more prominent now.
Along with the bumpers, the fog light bezels have been redesigned and they are now located at either end of the front, with a vertical LED strip connected to the circular fog lights. A large silver chin completes the upgrade and is visually matched with the side ‘stone guardians’. The top R Custom variant has a red stripe on the upper grille and a black plastic bezel above the silver side panels.
The wheels are new – 17-inch dual-spoke 5-spoke on the R Custom and 17-inch gunmetal rims on the ADS package, which can be added to mid-range X and R variants. Think of the ADS as a chrome trim/wheel package like Perodua’s GearUp. It is easily spotted by the gray alloys and chrome grille.
Inside, the Terios now has an all-black theme – black leather seats, dashboard/doors and roof. The seat has a red stripe running down the spine and has red stitching in various places for a sporty effect. ADM added soft pads to the Custom’s dashboard in front of the passenger, and the door armrests. There is a wireless charger inside the central armrest and the smartphone mirror.
In terms of safety, Terios Indonesia now has six airbags. ONE update 2021 introduced VSC across the range. Two new colors – Silver Metallic and Greenish Gun Metal – join the color list for a total of six options.
There are no mechanical changes, so the 2NR-VE 1.5 liter Dual VVT-i engine with a capacity of 104 hp / 136 Nm continues. All three variants can be equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. Prices range from Rp 236,050,000 (RM73,146) for the X MT and up to Rp 303,250,000 (RM93,970) for the R Custom AT. The ADS package can be added to X and R for around Rs 10 (RM3,100).
What do you think of the Daihatsu Terios upgrade? The net effect looks a bit like Toyota Fortuner for these eyes, that’s not a bad thing at all.
Now that Terios has been refreshed, maybe it’s time for the Perodua Aruz upgrade. Aruz has remained largely unchanged since its launch in January 2019, save for a Small update in 2021 which added some sets. It’s coming soon, but the P2 has design autonomy, so the Aruz facelift probably won’t look like this.
