audio achieved high performance RS e-tron GT for some exciting laps in a special demonstration run at this year’s Bathurst 12-hour endurance race, and now claim that it has set the fastest lap for an electric vehicle.
German Audi Sport driver and current official lap record holder Christopher Mies drove the unmodified car Audi RS e-tron GTand obtain a lap time of 2:28.15.
Although Audi claims it has set the fastest lap around Mount Panorama for an electric vehicle, it will not be counted officially as it was not done during a race session.
The same thing happened when Jenson Button passed Mount Panorama on a McLaren-Mercedes MP4-23 at 1:48.8.
As noted above, the current official lap record belongs to Mr Mies, who set a time of 1:59,210 in the Challenge Bathurst 2018 sprint behind the wheel of an Audi R8 LMS Ultra.
“Acceleration is faster than my GT3,” said Mr. Mies after completing the demonstration in the RS e-tron GT.
“I was amazed at the speed with which the car was able to swerve out of corners.”
The Audi e-tron GT is now available at dealers in Australia, with Local buyers lean towards the hotter RS variant.
The electric grand tourer shares its J1 platform with Porsche Taycanand in the top cover there is a dual-motor four-wheel drive system.
In boost mode, the Audi RS e-tron GT produces a total system power of 475kW power and 830Nm of torque.
Audi claims the RS e-tron GT can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and you’ll be electronically limited to 250 km/h.
