Cristian Romero of Argentina signs long-term contract with Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Argentine defender Cristian Romero on a permanent contract until 2027, the Premier League side said on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old centre-back initially joined the London club on loan from Serie A side Atalanta in August 2021 and helped them finish fourth in England’s top flight and return to the Champions League.
As a key part of coach Antonio Conte’s return three seasons ago, Romero helped Spurs to 10 wins from 14 league games in the final part of the campaign. He made 32 appearances for the club and scored in a win over Brighton & Hove Albion in March.
Romero, who has made 11 caps for Argentina, missed Spurs’ final two games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest with a wiring problem but has started training ahead of Wednesday’s trip to West Ham United.
