Based in Zurich, Maya and Daniele used three separate lights to create the white light. It’s not an easy thing to do, and this is a great example.
Mixing red, green, and blue light to make white light is not rocket science. However, I tried it and found that it is not as easy as it looks. Sometimes the gels you think will work actually give you a pinkish or brownish tint. Finding lights with enough focus and power is also important. Just like the need for a focused beam, any ambient light needs to be removed.

Looks like they also used this technique with a local furniture store, and I think it works pretty well. From previous experience, using a white wall as a solid background helps to bring out definition and clarity. Also, there are restrictions on the size of the scene. This works great for product photos. This technique is not suitable for getting wider shots, largely because it is difficult to focus light with devices of this size. Hopefully this will inspire more creative photos from Maya and Daniele, as well as from the Fstoppers community.
