When you think about luxury cards, Platinum Card® from American Express perhaps comes to mind first – demonstrating how influential brand association can be. And while it’s easy to look at the card’s $695 annual fee (see rates and fees), it comes with many perks to create cost-worthy value for cardholders.
One of these perks is a $300 Equinox credit, now available as a monthly credit of up to $25. But starting January 1, 2023, American Express Platinum Card Members will receive their Equinox statement credit up to $300 per calendar year annually. This will give cardholders more flexibility in maximizing their credit during the calendar year rather than monthly. Enrollment is required.
What is Amex Platinum Equinox Credit?
Equinox is a luxury fitness club with hundreds of locations in the US, Canada and UK. You’ll see them mostly in major cities, but Equinox is headquartered in New York City. Accordingly, there are more than 35 locations in New York City alone.
With Amex Platinum, you get a $300 statement credit annually with Equinox. This benefit is a per Platinum benefit, which means that even if you have an authorized user, you will still only receive one credit.
Through 2022, statement credits through this benefit are offered monthly up to $25 back per month. Beginning in 2023, statement credits through this benefit will be offered annually up to $300 per calendar year.
If you don’t live near Equinox (or aren’t interested in paying a premium for your gym), it’s important to note that the $300 credit can also apply to the Equinox+ app. According to Amex, here’s everything that qualifies for a refund with Amex Platinum Equinox credits:

Where do I visit platinum.equinox.com to sign up for benefits. Existing members will log in with their Equinox account, while new members will be prompted to select an eligible plan. You can choose to have an in-person experience (gym membership) or a digital experience (Equinox+ app).

While membership costs can vary if you join in person, all-access and destination-based memberships seem pretty standard across the board when joining online. Monthly E by Equinox membership prices aren’t posted online, so the only cost we know for sure is the Equinox+ app, with its $40 monthly bill.

After activating the benefit, you must charge Equinox or Equinox+ to your Platinum Card. Amex claims that it takes two to four weeks to receive the statement credit, although we think it could post sooner.

Which membership qualifies for the Amex Platinum Equinox credit?
Only memberships that are paid monthly and are an All-access, Destination, or E by Equinox plan are eligible for the $300 annual statement credit.
Which membership is NOT eligible for the Amex Platinum Equinox credit?
Any elapsed days or online purchases on the Equinox website will not count towards this credit. Some other exclusions may apply, so it’s best to check with Amex if you’re not sure your membership qualifies.
What benefits do I get with the Equinox+ app?
You’ll have access to an extensive catalog of classes from Equinox and its many brands, including SoulCycle, Pure Yoga, Precision Run, HeadStrong, Rumble, TB12, and Solidcore. There are also direct Equinox and SoulCycle classes available. Please note that you will not receive a statement credit towards your Equinox+ membership if you purchase your membership in the Equinox+ app or through a third party.
How do I use my Amex Platinum Equinox credit?
After you confirm your membership is valid for the statement credit, you must activate the benefit through platinum.equinox.com and charge your monthly bill to your Amex Platinum card.
