Today I’m going to share all the details of a hobby I really started getting into this summer: container gardening.
One of the things I love about container gardening is that it allows more space to play. You can usually have complete freedom with your choices and can change things up more easily than with an in-ground garden. For someone who likes to experiment when it comes to creative endeavors, this aspect is a definite bonus.

4 Tips to Create a Beautiful Container Garden
1. Choose your growers, focus on variety.
When you are considering the type of container garden you want to create, the first thing to keep in mind is variety. To get the look I wanted, I knew I needed pots of different heights, sizes, and shapes. If you don’t have a mix of tall and low potted plants, you can also use multi-tiered stands, planters, or even a chair or bench you already have to prop up a plant. number of potted plants. When possible, I like to match odd numbers of plants together (three or five tend to be good points in my experience).
In terms of materials, you can complete an eclectic look with a variety of materials, or you can start with a material like terracotta. If you live in a colder climate, I would recommend making sure that the growers are fine in the cold, if you plan to store them outside all winter. I also recommend choosing planters with drainage holes if possible.

2. Design your layout.
This is what I took away Arthur’s Course: If you want to create a really purposeful container garden, decide which layout/mood board you like First. Arthur suggests creating layouts for both spring and summer. You can do this digitally or on paper, but the idea is to know how the plants will work together in their designated planters and the color scheme you want to feature. I think my favorite container gardens look best with contrasting shapes in a complementary color palette, while also noting which plants work best for a given planting area.
Admittedly I didn’t get the chance to take this step this year, but next year I plan to! Ideally, I’d like to start trimming the branches that I like from my portfolio as soon as August. 4. Plant your container garden.
Although I’m not an expert when it comes to farming completely however, I have kept some general guidelines in mind throughout the growing process.
- Fill the pot with potting mixture about 2/3 full.
- Gently squeeze the side walls of each nursery to loosen and remove it.
- Arrange your plants in a pot on top of the potting soil, making sure that the tops of their root balls are a few inches below the top of the pot.
- Add soil to the pot, making sure you cover the roots.
- Water your newly planted garden immediately.
