Conor Benn vs Chris Eubank Jr ‘Is Sealed’ And ‘Going Ahead’
Rumors have been circulating all week that Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr are in talks to face each other this year and despite Benn’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, turn off all speculationGareth A. Davies now claims the fight is ‘sealed’.
Davies available on TalkSport discussed the possibility of a duel with host Adam Catterall, who began by saying:
“From what we’ve heard from our sources throughout the week and although promoters are trying to get you to hear various things, this fight is a long way off and hopefully going to be. happened in the fall of this year.”
Davies went a step further saying that the fight was ‘sealed’:
“I’m happy to say that this fight is on.”
“I don’t make it public because I don’t have the privilege to do so, but I understand this war is sealed.”
Conor Benn fought at 147lbs at Welterweight, while Eubank Jr was a Middleweight and fought at 160lbs but fought as high as 168lbs.
Davies stated the fight is expected to take place in an attractive weight class:
“I understand him [Eubank Jr] will drop to 155 pounds, that’s what I’m hearing. “
“It’s going to be made at about 155 pounds so he’s going to have to drop a bit of weight to have that fight.”
“For me Eubank is the favorite.”
He added that these are the types of punches boxing needs to do:
“It’s unquestionably about nostalgia and going back three decades and taking it to the future – do these wars now.”
The potential fight comes three decades after their father’s epic feud for the WBO middleweight title. Eubank won their first encounter in 1990 by TKO in the ninth round before a controversial draw at Old Trafford three years later.
