Coach O’Brien a fan of the flight
No Dogs in the Fight for the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) on November 5, Aidan O’Brien tackled a November 1 question people are asking people these days Keeneland: What do you think about Flight route ?
Coach Ballydoyle gave an unabashed response to his admiration for the undefeated Tapit colt, who was installed as the 3-5th pick on the light line for the World Championships marquee race.
“Oh sure, listen, he looks amazing, doesn’t he? We’re looking forward to seeing him (in person),” O’Brien said. “He’s the horse we all look forward to seeing on television. A horse doing what he does, the horse is just of this world, isn’t it?”
O’Brien will know a thing or two about the otherworldly contenders, having won 13 Breeders’ Cup races, including six editions of the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1T). His last Breeders’ Cup victory comes in 2020 with Order of Australia in FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1T), who overcame a shock 73-1 and led to a 1-2-3 finish for O’Brien in the race. The son of Australia will return to this year’s Miles contest.
O’Brien’s other candidates are Broome and Stone Age for Turf, Toy and Tuesday for Manufacturer’s Mark Filly & Mare Turf (G1T), Victoria Street for Juvenile Court (G1T), and Think for Turf Fillies Juvenile (G1T). The Ballydoyle chain cleared its quarantine on Tuesday morning and jogged around the main track.
