Friends of the Earth (Netherlands) sued Royal Dutch Shell, using Dutch law that allows NGOs to sue over environmental or social issues affecting all citizens. They won a ruling requiring Shell to reduce emissions by 45% by 2030 compared to 2019. This reduction includes the emissions of Shell customers around the world, including you and me.
Shell has appealed the ruling, which is now being brought before the Court of Appeal of The Hague. Clintel has intervention (In Dutch this) as a third party in the case to argue that the court did not consider the evidence that climate change is not a danger to Dutch citizens. The court ruled that Shell’s emissions risked causing “dangerous climate change”, a phrase and concept that not even the IPCC uses.
Shell did not object to this phrase, which is not supported by observational evidence. The only evidence is from unproven climate models mismatched observed so far.
As this lawsuit affects Shell customers and suppliers worldwide, Clintel is asking people around the world to sign a petition asking the court to review the scientific evidence. shows that Shell’s global emissions are Not danger. Shell and other companies often fear adverse publicity if they challenge the popular, politically correct and false view that man-made climate change is dangerous. This though evidence that it is not. Until Shell and other companies “couple”, we must fight this nonsense.
