Cliffset portable silverware with built-in dishwasher

There is a dilemma In the end every city dweller has to face: Where is the fork? Suppose that after a meeting you finally find a single falafel stall that is an oasis in the middle of the food desert of the financial district. The gods smile and you score an $8 falafel. This is why you live in a city, right? There is so much great food and things to do. But how are you going to eat that lovely falafel? There’s pita for sure, but now you have to get the hummus and baba ganoush and the rest inside.

That’s when you’re handed a plastic fork. It was an environmental disaster. Well, it’s not as big of an environmental disaster as any of the electronics you’re reading about, but still not great.

Oil Hell No

Do you know what plastic is? It’s a petroleum by-product, which means it’s made from petroleum. Oil – the lovely black liquid that powers the city around you as you stand there, falafel in hand, contemplating your plastic fork – basically all that has been dead for millennia before, was put into the ground and squeezed like a Mesozoic juicer. Oil flows out.

The resin is refined from that dead stuff and allowed to cool and solidify into the shape of a fork. That thing, holding the bit of falafel you were about to eat, was really something cold, frozen, and dead. Bon Appetite. Say no to frozen dead sticks.

This is where Cliffset’s portable cutlery set was born. It’s made of premium stainless steel, but more importantly for our city use case, it comes with a carrying case and cleaning solution. It’s actually pocketable silverware with a dishwasher in the pocket.

This is the key. Sure, you can buy a stainless steel fork for under a dollar at the thrift store, but that fork will end up at the bottom of your pocket, rubbing against your shoulder, like that, with old concert ticket stubs, muffins, and who knows what else. While it’s more eco-friendly than plastic, that’s gross.
