Anderson is one of the European Parliament’s most vocal critics of COVID-19 policies in Europe, Canada and beyond.
She argues that Western democracies are slowly transitioning to digital autocracy. Next step? Climate lock.
“Once we end up in a totalitarian regime and it completely collapses, considering the technological means they have today, we will not be talking about 30 years of the GDR. [German Democratic Republic], 40 years of the GDR. We are not talking about 70 years of the Soviet Union. We are talking about a very, very long time. That’s something you should be afraid of,” Anderson said.
In the 1920s and 1930s, “Germany was a highly developed society, I mean, a lot of intelligent, educated people, but this society can become unbelievably evil… I am always asked: ‘How is that even possible?’ Well, look at the past three years and you’ll have your answer,” argued Anderson.
“We only need to understand one thing: each of us is capable of the most heinous atrocities against his fellow human beings, if the circumstances are right. But if you’re not aware of the fact that yes, you can do the same thing, you don’t have a mechanism to combat it,” Anderson said.
