Churchill Downs cancels race on June 16 due to heat
Thursday’s eight race program at Churchill Downs was canceled due to extreme heat in the Louisville area.
The race at Churchill Downs is scheduled to resume on Friday at 12:45 p.m. ET, although race officials will continue
forecast tracking. Any decision on inclement weather cancellations is made in consultation with
CDI Equine Chief Medical Officer, administration and follow-up management officials. Many factors, including temperature, humidity
and wind speeds, assessed to ensure the safety and health of humans and jockeys.
Churchill Downs will be open for bets via simulcast on Thursdays from 11:30am to 7:30pm
Visitors can exchange their pre-purchased tickets for another similar race day this year. Ticket exchange is possible
performed at any Churchill Downs box office location during the live race season. Guests who have booked tickets via

This marks the 23rd cancellation in tracking history and the second in as many days. Wednesday’s eight race card is also
Canceled because the temperature is too high.
