After Gennady Golovkin’s defeat to Canelo Alvarez on Saturday night, Chris Eubank Jr quickly jumped at the opportunity to call him out, despite having to fight Conor Benn just three weeks away.
‘Triple G’ lost due to unanimous decision in what is expected to be the final installment in his historical trilogy with Canelo. However, his lackluster performance in the majority of matches has led fans to believe that the 40-year-old boxer is not the fighter he once was, although he remains the unified middleweight world champion.
The scorecards hardly really tell the story of a comfortable night for Álvarez Mexico, but Golovkin is showing signs of aging that middleweight contenders, like Eubank Jr, are fancying their chances. So much so Brit jumps straight to twitter to call out the veteran’s name.

This will be Eubank’s first challenge for the world middleweight titles, but before that he was knocked out against George Groves for the WBA and IBO super middleweight belts.
December is certainly an ambitious day to claim, not only for Golovkin but for himself, with him due to his fight with Conor Benn on October 8. It remains to be seen whether this is a real call. or another mind game attempt to imply that he was looking out for Benn, such as his KFC exploit.
