Zeekr has just released teaser images of the upcoming electric car model of Tesla’s rival Model Y on Chinese social networks.
Teaser images were released on Weibo by Zeekr vice president Lin Jinwen, showing the SUV covered in orange camouflage paint.
Currently, the SUV is codenamed CX1e and is expected to launch later this year.
Jinwen shared the image with a caption that hints at the car’s proper name hidden in the paint. The pattern includes the letters Z and X, suggesting that the upcoming electric vehicle could be officially named ZX or XZ.
While it’s not yet confirmed whether this is the final Zeekr product, the images are the first undisguised look at the automaker’s next model and reveal potential styling details like flush-mounted door handles and low-set headlights.
While the car retains the shape of a conventional SUV, the trim above the front windows could represent a LiDAR sensor, suggesting that Zeekr’s latest electric model could be equipped with advanced self-driving technology.
The SUV is said to ride on the same SEA 1 version of the Geely Sustainable Experience Architecture, the platform used on the 007 mid-size sedan, with double wishbone suspension up front and multi-link suspension at the rear.
The company is entering the SUV segment, and the new C-segment SUV will be launched in China in the next three months, before expanding to global markets later this year, said Mars Chen, vice president of emerging markets.
Zeekr, a sister brand to Polestar and Volvo, is part of the Geely family and was founded in 2021.
The Shanghai-based brand is expected to launch in Australia before the end of 2024, with X And 009 The first two cars confirmed to be coming to our market.
