Welcome back Gasoline price meter! it was a long few months since we finally talked about this, but what better day 20/4 to bring gas back into the conversation? Price has gone up wrong [read: rising or more expensive] direction for a while – pretty much since late 2022. Theo AAA’s Trusted Gas Price TrackerMedium price for a gallon conventional fuel is currently at $3.68, that is actually up 5 cents from just a week ago. Fortunately for us, however, it looks like that trend is changing.

In case you lost it:

Andrew Gross, spokesman for AAA said in a statement. “If this oil price trend continues, drivers could see gasoline prices fall.”

According to the Energy Information Administration, demand for gas is also starting to decline a bit. EIA says demand fell from 8.94 million oil barrel per day last week to 8.52 million barrels per day this week. That led to a very slight increase in US domestic gasoline stocks by 1.3 million barrels to 223.5 million barrels.

The news keeps getting better for gas prices, too. AAA says U.S. refineries are currently returning to services after extensive winter/spring maintenance programs. That means output rose last week by 330,000 barrels per day to 16.44 million barrels per day. That’s higher than it was this time last year. Huzzah!

So with that, why don’t we do everyone’s favorite thing and check out the gas price winners and losers around the country.
