“We are delighted to welcome two new members to the Chennaiyin family in Aakash Sangwan and Sajal Bag,” Chennaiyin FC co-owner Vita Dani said in a press release on Tuesday.

Left-footed Sangwan will join Marina Machans from RoundGlass Punjab, formerly known as Minerva Punjab, who won the I-League title in 2018.

On the other hand, Bag will join the Chennaiyinn ranks after an impressive display of finishing as West Bengal’s runner-up at the Santosh Trophy.

“In Aakash we have an I-League champion who has proven time and time again that he is a player who can be trusted in the back line. We are also aware of young Sajals’ record in the Santosh Trophy with Bengal which has just ended and we believe we can provide him with the support he needs to get through,” she added.

Sangwan, who hails from Haryana, has a sizable amount of experience with 66 matches in his professional career. Since his debut for RoundGlass Punjab in 2016, he has played five I-League seasons for them, scoring one goal and providing two assists. He also had a brief stint with Churchill Brothers FC which he played three times during the 2019-20 I-League season before returning to RoundGlass Punjab.
