Charlo-Castano Undercard Preview: “Boots” Ennis Returns
By: Sean Crose
They say he’s boxing’s next big star, and they may be right. Jaron “Boots” Ennis returns to the ring this Saturday night to face Custio Clayton in the highly anticipated Jermell Charlo-Brian Castano rematch. The 24-year-old Philly-original Ennis became a virtual knockout machine, winning all but two of his 28 matches by KO. Like Ennis, however, Canada’s Clayton is undefeated, boasting a 19-0-1 record. He also has some powers of his own, stopping his 12 opponents in the distance. Their match is scheduled to last 12 innings in the welterweight division.
Invincible superstar Kevin Gonzalez will also appear on the Charlo-Castano leaderboard. Mexico 24-0-1 will face Puerto Rico’s Emanuel Nieves 19-2 in a scheduled 10th round match. The showdown between Mexico and Puerto Rico always produces good boxing matches, so this one has to be good too. The Charlo-Castano 2 Card will be broadcast live from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California starting at 9pm on Showtime.
