Rizgar Hussein last spoke to his family on Tuesday, shortly before they boarded a boat from France to the UK.
The next day, he woke up to find that 27 people had died in the Channel after a migrant boat had sunk.
So far, only one person has officially been identified as a victim of the disaster.
Rizgar spoke to the BBC, as he waited to hear about the fates of his family members.
