Catalog Now Online for Minnesota Yearling Sale
The 2023 Minnesota Thoroughbred Association Yearling Sale catalog is now online; this year features 35 yearlings to go under the hammer Aug. 27 at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minn. The sale starts at 6 p.m. CT, following the day’s races.
Minnesota-bred yearlings and a few Oklahoma-breds make up this year’s offering. State stallions, including March Twelth , Matt’s Broken Vow , Timber Legend (deceased), and Westover Wildcat , are represented, as well as first-crop foals from Blueblood and Caracaro . Progeny from resident Kentucky stallions include Atta Boy Roy , Bee Jersey , Caracaro, Classic Empire , Cupid , Enticed , Goldencents , Gormley , Maximus Mischief , Midshipman , Mo Town , Outwork , Paynter , and Tapiture .

Last year’s sale offered 30 yearlings with 25 changing hands for a gross of $385,600. An average price of $15,424 and a median of $6,000 were recorded. The sale was highlighted by Kerri Raven signing for a $70,000 filly by Competitive Edge offered by Von Seggern Thoroughbreds.
Xtreme Racing Stables made three purchases for a gross of $113,000 to be the sales leading buyer, which included a Cupid filly purchased in partnership with Hugh Robertson consigned by Von Seggern Thoroughbreds for $18,000, a Coal Front filly from the Hidden Creek Farm draft for $35,000, and a Tapiture gelding for $60,000 from the Von Seggerns.
Von Seggern Thoroughbreds sold three head grossing $148,000 at an average of $49,333 to be the sales leading consignor.
