Just when you think some sections of our society can’t get any lower, they’re even lower. ABC’s Allentown, Pennsylvania Branch ABC report 6 that the town forced parking came to sell tickets to people queuing for food banks. It’s exactly as bad as it sounds.

It all started on April 22 when Pastor Alejandro Escamilla from Fuente de Vida Church began distributing food to those in need. But apparently someone ignored the fact that the people waiting were in demand and called to complain about the number of cars parked on the street. Not long after, the Allentown Parking Authority showed up and began hitting those waiting with parking tickets.
What’s worse is that Pastor Escamilla says the parking lot enforcement agency doesn’t understand the situation, essentially ignoring the pastor’s concerns.
“They say, ‘We are the law. You must respect the law.’ And I mean, this is not the way to work with a community.” he say.
But residents say what the parking enforcement has done is not surprising. This is just the way it is normal operation. Another resident who owns a local restaurant said that the parking authority repeatedly fined his suppliers when they arrived early to deliver him. He hasn’t even opened the door for two years, and he said he paid thousands of dollars for tickets, this To be hurt his business.
“I paid almost $9,000. Nine thousand dollars since I first opened in October 2021. If this continues, I will be in trouble.” he says.
Fortunately, town officials heard outcry from the community about the food bank ticket sales. Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk called what happened the last straw and parking enforcement needs to recognize it. “the way they acted, it’s not appropriate.”
In response, the head of Allentown’s parking enforcement agency waived ticket sales.
“We don’t give out tickets to people waiting in line for food. It just can’t be defended. We won’t even try to defend it.” he says.
