CarExpert 2023: Change and Evolution

Dear CarExpert readers, first of all we want to thank you for a really great year in 2022 and while it’s not over yet, we’re set to make some small and no small changes to with the site as we head into 2023.

For those of you who have been following us here since Car consultation dayLet us tell you a little story about why we are all here.

From 2006 to 2016, CarAdvice has grown into the largest new car website in the country and has become a household name for many car lovers and those looking for their next new car. It also has the undisputed badge of being the second highest traffic referrer to CarSales. Why is that a problem?

Essentially, car buyers will use the website to find the car they want to buy, then head to CarSales to begin the transactional component of the journey.

From the very beginning with CarExpert, we have consciously learned from those lessons and therefore the strategy has always been to build CarExpert into Australia’s best new automotive research tool, but also to follow the path that leads. to the transaction.

This is why we bought PriceMyCar back in August and why you’ve seen a gradual shift to focus points for buying and selling. That’s also why you might notice some of the above roles career page agent related.

Our mission statement is to be the most trusted expert on car ownership, helping to make confident decisions.

In 2022 we won Brand and Website of the Year and Paul and Alborz also won Entrepreneur of the Year in the media category in Sydney.

With all this in mind, CarExpert will enter 2023 with the following major changes:

Major increase in personnel

As we near the end of 2022, CarExpert has approximately 40 full-time employees. Currently, we have over 20 positions open for full-time employees to fill by July 2023, with more roles to be added from August. Significant investment in these best people will help us continue our growth trajectory towards an IPO around 2024.

Substantial investment in our content team

We are significantly increasing the size of our core editorial team and also expanding input from external sources. You may have seen some familiar faces return, and some new ones will appear in early 2023.

This will help increase the amount of content we produce in terms of news, reviews, comparisons, etc., but will also see us create dozens of ‘content hubs’ currently designed and develop.

These hubs will be substantial in size and encapsulate key discussion points and information around a specific topic (e.g. electric vehicles) with videos and supporting tools. One stop page with everything you want to know about a topic.

Update form news & reviews

We’ve redefined and redesigned our news and review templates to be easier to read and less cluttered, and deliver more data and content in a more user-friendly way. The evolution of our review template and design will also help us try some new things along the way.

Invest in data-driven content

We’ve always used algorithmic-driven custom data content creation tools for parts of the CarExpert website, and from 2023 we’ll significantly expand that functionality with a massive development investment in use data (such as Sales Report, sales data, other data sources) to deliver seamless integration.

For example, if you’re reading about the Ford Ranger, all data on sales, last month’s average selling price, current deals, etc., will all be seamlessly available in every article about the vehicle. that car.

Automatic comparison tool

From day one, we built CarExpert to be a vehicle comparison and discovery tool. All of our showrooms, reviews, and data points are designed in such a way that they can be quickly placed side by side, piece by piece (for example, the interior of the Ford Ranger versus the Toyota Hilux), that’s to be exact. is what we plan to do when we start comparing systems in 2023. This will allow you to compare multiple vehicles side-by-side and see the difference in everything from stats to thoughts our interiors and how they work.

Changes to our promotional products

As most of you know, our no-display mantra has been part of our launch strategy since 2020. Since then, the business has grown from the link. contextual text to using our images, videos and other ads for highly effective display ads.

Soon we will also be using advertising from the OEMs themselves in certain locations on the site. This won’t result in a significant amount of ads on a page but might surprise some of you. The reason we’re doing this is primarily because we’ve identified these ads as having a meaningful impact and supporting the user’s journey through the purchase process.

We will continue to be an independent voice in the auto industry and steadfastly stay away from sponsored content or any opinions that are not our own. This will continue to set us apart from our competitors.

Ask an expert/Q&A will be displayed for public use

Like our comparator, Ask an expert this section is one of the most helpful features for new car buyers whereby they ask detailed questions and we give detailed answers on which car they should buy and why. We’ve answered thousands of these questions since launch.

So far, these Q&As have been kept private, but we’re making them public and best of all, building a system that allows the community to respond to car buyers’ questions with comments. Our experts’ contributions are here.

Integrate dealer system into CarExpert

As part of our acquisition of PriceMyCar and its amazing technology platform, we are bringing this technology to CarExpert itself, so there is full integration from reading reviews to sending guests. leads and receive calls from CarExpert itself to answer any questions previously connected to the best buying source.

From the founders and our entire team at CarExpert, we want to thank you for your continued support and patronage. We’re always open to feedback and would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on what we can do better and what features you’d like to see us develop.
