Canelo Alvarez ranks 5th on Forbes’ list of highest paid athletes in 2023
Canelo may be on the decline as a boxer but he clearly retains his earning potential.
The Mexican star ranks 5th on Forbes’ list of highest paid athletes of 2023, with earnings of $110 million from May 1, 2022 to the same date this year.
All but $10 million of that number was generated in battle wallets. Alvarez played against Dmitry Bivol on 7 May last year and Gennadiy Golvokin on 17 September last year.
Alvarez ranked 8th on last year’s list with $90 million.
No other boxer made the Top 10 this year.

Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs) is expected to defend his undisputed 168-pound weight championship against John Ryder (32-5, 18 KOs) in a pay-by match views on Saturday near Alvarez’s hometown of Guadalajara.
He lost to Bivol by a unanimous decision but returned to overtake Golovkin in their third battle.
