Canelo Alvarez will obviously face Charlo in September. Only it’s not the Charlo it’s reported.
The undisputed 168-pound champion has indicated on social media that he will be up against undisputed 154-pound champion Jermell Charlo, not his twin brother and holder. Jermall Charlo 160-pound belt. And sources confirmed the news.
Alvarez’s first fight with the Top Boxing Champion will be September 30 in Las Vegas, he said on Twitter. He did not mention a location.
“Undisputed versus Undisputed,” is how he billed the match.

Alvarez (59-2-2, 39 KOs) recently signed what is believed to be a three-fight deal with PBC, the company that manages some of the top boxers in and around the Mexican star’s division.
He is said to have spoken to Jermall Charlo, who has dealt with mental health issues, hasn’t fought in over two years and should have moved up to a division. However, that fight could not be fought for undisclosed reasons.
Alvarez then turned his attention to Jermell Charlo, who had also publicly expressed his desire to challenge Alvarez.
Jermell Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs) is one of the most respected boxers in the world — more respected than his brother — but he’ll have to move up two divisions to face a The future Hall of Famer, at the age of 32, is one year younger than Charlos.
