Can this lens replace one of the best portrait lenses ever?

Canon’s 85mm f/1.2L lens is one of the most legendary lenses ever made and has been in the hands of countless portrait photographers for several decades now. In the meantime, the company has developed a number of other notable lenses that make the 85mm pocket-friendly. So can it be dethroned? This great video review compares two of Canon’s best lenses to answer that question.

Coming to you from Irene RudnykThis great video review compares with Canon RF 85mm f/1.2 L USM and RF 28-70mm f/2 L USM Glass. In its five iterations, the 85mm f/1.2L is one of the most popular and respected portrait lenses available today, delivering professional image quality along with incredible bokeh and sharpness. Ultra-thin depth of field. The latest version for the RF mount has been particularly appreciated, dramatically improving wide-angle sharpness and autofocus performance. All that being said, the 28-70mm f/2L has rewritten the zoom lens paradigm, offering ultra-wide apertures and prime-level performance, and it’s quickly become my go-to lens, basically live version on my EOS R5. Both are pretty impressive and you’ll likely be satisfied with either lens. Check out the video above for Rudnyk’s full thoughts.
