BYD Dolphin launches in Thailand on July 6 – up to 60.48 kWh, 490 km EV range, 204 PS;  Malaysia next?

Official price for BYD Dolphin in Thailand will be revealed next week on July 6, with deliveries set to commence from July 17 onwards, according to a report by headlight. Electric vehicles (EVs) were introduced at this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show and will come in two variants.

The entry-level option is the Standard Range which features a 95 PS (94 hp or 70 kW) front electric motor and 180 Nm of torque, for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 12 ,3 seconds. This variant comes with a Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery developed in-house by the company with an energy capacity of 44.92 kWh, suitable for a range of up to 410 km according to NEDC standards.

For charging, the Standard Range supports a maximum AC input of 7 kW and a DC input of 60 kW, with truck supply provisions (V2L) to power external devices or accessories. outside. According to the report, variants of the Standard Range will be offered in monochromatic colors.

Meanwhile, the most advanced version is the Extended Range with a two-tone color scheme and a significantly more battery with a capacity of 60.48 kWh. This allows the range to be increased to 490 km, and with the more powerful electric motor delivering 204 PS (201 hp or 150 kW) and 310 Nm, the century sprint time drops to seven seconds. Higher capacity batteries will handle the same AC input as lower batteries, but DC fast charging is boosted up to 80 kW – V2L support is also standard here.

In terms of equipment, the Dolphin will be available with adaptive LED headlights, heated rearview mirrors, 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels, 5-inch digital instrument cluster, synthetic leather seats, infotainment system. 12.8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay Support, keyless start and start, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof and wireless phone charger.

Safety and driver assistance systems include the usual combination of passive systems (AEB, traction control, ESC), accompanied by adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert as well as lane-departure warning and prevention.

The Dolphins also appear in Malaysia last December as part of an official preview and is expected to launch here in Q4 of 2023.
