Burger King just insulted every customer who doesn’t use its app

The app economy has been a glorious revelation.

more Technically incorrect

You can see it every time Apple presents quarterly results.

However, people are often attracted to apps because they are easy, convenient, or simply because they love a brand so much that they want to be much closer to it.

However, not everyone wants their phone to have multiple pages and pages of apps. Some prefer to live a slightly more restrained life, unaffected by any light on their screen.

Which leads me to this philosophical question: Are these people stupid?

I’m just asking because Burger King seems to think they are.

Also: Burger King has publicly shamed an unhappy customer. Then it did it again

The burger chain just launched a series of commercials in the UK that speak for themselves. Burger King app users are simply smarter than those who don’t mind.

A sample of the message on a Burger King billboard: “Smart people have our app. Others clap when the plane lands.”

I have felt your cough is being pursued by another cough.

So what: “Smart people have our app. Others wear fake glasses.”

Surely now you are blinded by laughter. This is the funniest “You’re Totally Stupid” campaign you’ve ever seen.

The creator of these elves told Adweek that this is an example of brand “irrespect”.

Burger King isn’t the first fast food brand to try to get customers to download its app. For example, Chick-fil-A has created a two-ground driving system in which one lane is reserved for mobile orderers.

Also: Chick-fil-A is only inspired by Starbucks (and some customers might hate it)

But some may argue that telling your customers they don’t know if they don’t download your app has a downside. It may show you didn’t do your best job of selling it, however you may think you are disrespectful.

As fast food prices continue to rise, perhaps many customers will feel they are not getting the value they are used to. Perhaps they will find a way to cook cheaper at home.

Maybe they’re trying to follow Pastor Tim Cook’s maxim and try to use their phone less. Maybe they were super nervous when the plane landed so they clapped their hands.

All in all, Burger King’s humor is actually quite funny. Why, the brand tried to suggest a good reason to download its app its restaurants are really pretty terrible. Good humor always implies a large element of truth.

Also: Burger King just made an announcement that really embarrassed McDonald’s

However, somehow, after seeing this campaign, I’m not so sure.

I’m afraid that if I already have the Burger King app on my phone, I’ll want to delete it. Or is it my stupidity?
