Budget 2023: RM20 million for drag strip in Malaysia
In his Budget 2023 speech, Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz announced the Malaysian government will allocate RM20 million to build drag racing strips in the country. However, there are no details on where the allocation will be spent or for how much of the drag strip.
This budget announcement follows Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s statement in August, where he said there would be a government proposal for purpose-built pull circuit for all states in Malaysia.
“At the moment, there are two pull circuits to be built, which are in Terengganu and Melaka,” the Prime Minister said during the meeting of RXZ 4.0 2022 Members held at the Terengganu International Drag Strip in Gong Badak.
Ismail added that, when the drag strips are completed, it will be an opportunity for young people to get seriously involved in motorsport through the appropriate channels.
