Bryson DeChambeau ‘comfortable’ after finishing bodybuilding regimen, now losing weight to avoid injury



Over the past few years, Bryson DeChambeau has become a phenomenon in the golf world thanks to his muscular physique and the incredible ranged ability it afforded him. But after suffering numerous injuries that kept him out of the game, the eight-time PGA Tour champion changed course regarding the way he treats his body.

During an appearance on the “Five Clubs” podcast, DeChambeau revealed that he’s given up his fitness regimen and started losing weight in an effort to avoid injury and improve his overall health.

“I haven’t been eating properly for almost a year and a half and I’m starting to feel weird,” DeChambeau said. “My gut is messed up, and so I’m perfectly healthy, doing the Whole 30 diet, seeing a dietitian, having blood tests, measuring substances in my gut biome. I severe inflammation.

“And then just recently since I’ve used this new chef, I’ve lost 20 pounds in a month.”

This, of course, comes after DeChambeau gained nearly 50 pounds in late 2019 and early 2020 thanks to intense weight training and an equally extreme diet. Initial returns look good: DeChambeau has led the PGA Tour in average driving distances for the past two seasons and reached the final eight of the year’s Professional Road Racers World Championship 2021, in addition he won the US Open for the first time in 2020.

But while he looks physically healthy, DeChambeau says he feels anything but inner health.

“I ate things that weren’t good for my system to which I was very sensitive, and eventually it got to the point of being a little too much. And that’s why I started giving up on that,” DeChambeau said.

Now significantly lighter, DeChambeau, 29, feels younger again at almost 30 years old.

“The inflammation just left my system and I feel so much more comfortable,” says DeChambeau. Go”. “I look like I was 20, not 35.”
