Break Bad statue criticized by New Mexico representative
Break at the center of a new political debate.
Two statues of Break character Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) was erected at the Albuquerque Convention Center in New Mexico on July 29, according to Diversity. However, one of the leaders of the state did not fully understand why these sculptures were displayed.
At the inauguration of the statue, Break creator Vince Gilligan said he understands that not everyone will be a fan of the statues, as the fictional characters are notorious drug dealers operating in New Mexico.
“Seriously, some will certainly say, ‘Wow, that’s exactly what our city needs.’ And I get it,” he said, according to Diversity. “I see two of the best actors America has ever produced. I see them, in character, as two larger-than-life tragic characters, cautionary tales.”
