Bradl confirmed as Marquez replacement at COTA
Marquez was replaced by Bradl at COTA
Joan Mir will join Stefan Bradl for Team Repsol Honda as the MotoGP World Championship comes to the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas.
The 5.51km track was previously an exciting hunt for the RC213V with Marc Marquez leading it to a seven-time, undefeated victory from 2013 to 2018.
Marc Marquez continues to focus on recovering his injured right hand and will miss the Americas GP as a result. Honda HRC test driver Stefan Bradl will take his place. Bradl’s last race in Austin was in 2016 and his appearances in 2013 and 2014 in the LCR Honda brought home two finishes in the top five. In 2014, he started from the row. front seat, behind Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa as the RC213V made the top three.
Stefan Bradl
“First of all, I want to wish Marc the best in his recovery, as Honda we need him back on track. I arrived in Austin after a few days of testing in Jerez, where we were able to try out a few things with the bike. It will be very interesting to drive COTA again, the last time I raced there was in 2016 and will give me a chance to try the RC213V 2023 on a very different type of track than what I have driven so far. now this year. Have a productive weekend and see what’s possible.”
Joan Mir spent a week between races recovering from the impact of a heavy crash during the first round of the Sprint race in Argentina. Mir is determined to put together a free issue over the weekend to further adapt the Honda RC213V, the race track being the key to further improvement. 2022 saw Mir achieve his best of the year as he finished fourth at the Americas GP.
Joan Mir
“I’m ready to cycle again in the US, I was able to spend this week at home fully recovering from Saturday’s fall and back in training. Last year I had a strong race in Austin and Honda has a very good record there too, so the goal is to have a steady weekend and avoid problems. If we can finish one race over the weekend, I think we’ll be able to learn a lot and take it a step further because in the two races is where you learn the most about Honda.“
