Lordstown crash, e-Corner demonstration, more and more people reject EVs: Car News Today

Lordstown Motors could be in financial trouble. The Hyundai supplier demonstrates its e-Corner EV technology by cornering and turning. And will more and more U.S. shoppers turn down electric cars? This and more, here at Green Car Reports.

In its latest survey data, JD Power found that the percentage of shoppers who said they were “very unlikely” to consider buying an electric vehicle in the next 12 months was higher than ever—indicating a trend a growing share of shoppers may flatly refuse electric vehicles. While it’s unclear what new factors have contributed to that, price and charging are familiar enemies.

In Monday, Lordstown Motors warns of financial difficulties. It reports that Foxconn may be looking to pull out of a funding deal that could keep electric truck maker Endurance afloat and that it could go bankrupt if this is not resolved.

And e-Corner technology with in-wheel motor, shown on the road by tech supplier Hyundai in the Ioniq 5, could change both the packaging and mobility of electric vehicles of the future. With steering, brakes and propulsion integrated into the modules at each corner, the electric vehicle can perform true side turns, turn around in small spaces, steer diagonally, etc.
