Box Art Brawl: Final Fantasy IV (DS)
Be sure to cast your vote in the poll below; but first, check out the box art designs yourself.
North America
So here’s your “quintessential” Final Fantasy cover, with a beautiful title font set over an adorable image of the villain Golbez. What’s interesting about the North American version, however, is that the standard color scheme for Final Fantasy has been effectively reversed, with a white title and a black background. Meanwhile, the image of Golbez is glittering and beautiful. Oh…
Europe
So for Europe, the layout is exactly the same as its North American counterpart, but the colors are more in keeping with the “traditional” Final Fantasy image. The title font is now black, the background is white, and Golbez’s image is now mostly blue with a hint of orange and red.
Japan
Okay, so Japan really caught on with this one, using Final Fantasy illustrator Yoshitaka Amano’s skill set for the cover art. We see the game’s core protagonists in the foreground with a whole bunch of balloons and clouds in the background. It’s a standout piece for sure, but is it as iconic as the European/North American approach..?
Thanks for voting! See you in the next round of Box Art Brawl.
