Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Honored w/ Street Dedication In Cleveland

Coinciding with hip hop’s 50th birthday, a very important intersection in Cleveland, Ohio, has been renamed in honor of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.

August 11 Is Officially “Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Day” In Cleveland

According to WKYC, the street dedication went down on Friday (Aug. 11). It took place at the intersection of East 99th Street and St. Clair Avenue, which was memorialized through the group’s 1995 album, E. 1999 Eternal.

Notably, Mayor Justin Bibb further honored the group — comprised of Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, and Flesh-n-Bone — by commemorating the date as “Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Day.”

The development came about thanks to a petition created in February 2022, which Councilman Kevin Conwell called the “fastest one” he’s seen, per News 5 Cleveland.

“This is the fastest petition I have seen signed, and I have been on council for 20 years. I’ve done a lot of street dedications, and this is the fastest one I’ve seen here. That’s proof that it’s in the pudding.”

Many attendees captured footage of the dedication, including Krayzie Bone himself. When a city employee arrives to switch out the sign, viewers can see that, above the standard “E. 99 St.” address, the new placard proudly reads, “Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Way.”

This new sign also features a photo of the group mates. Check out footage of the renaming down below.

Krayzie Bone Expresses His Gratitude: “It’s A Wonderful Thing To Be Alive To Witness It”

During a sit-down with Cleveland.com, Krayzie Bone acknowledged the group’s reaction to the street renaming.

Of course, Krayzie said Bone Thugs-N-Harmony welcomed the matter with open arms.

“We were just happy, man. We was proud.”

He added that he and his group mates “felt blessed” to still have the community’s support before sharing, “It’s a wonderful thing to be alive to witness it.”

Krayzie Bone also shared some commentary on how he plans to use the Spread The Love Foundation, established in 2019, to give back to “aspiring artists” in the state.

“We’re trying to build a school here, an academy, so that we can educate the aspiring artists who are coming up from this city — not just the city, but the entire state.”

He noted that he wanted to give up-and-coming artists “the weapon of education when dealing with these big corporate giants.” As a result, the initiative helps “break that cycle and give the artist some leverage.”

Shoutout to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony & our Cleveland Roomies!
