Bolt d’Oro Filly Tops OBS October Yearling Sale Opener

The opening session of the Ocala Breeders October Yearling Sale Oct. 10 was headlined by a daughter of Bolt d’Oro   consigned by Kaizen Sales (Richard Kent) as Hip 353, which realized $135,000 from de Meric Sales, agent. Final Day 1 figures show a decline in all market indicators over the 2022 edition of the Central Florida sale.

The bay filly is out of Final Reward, by Arch, and is a half sister to newly stakes-placed Yatta , third in the Sept. 30 Selima Stakes at Laurel Park.

De Meric Sales was the session-leading buyer with its single purchase, followed by NRClub, which made two purchases for a gross of $110,000.

Beth Bayer sold 17 of her 25-horse draft for gross receipts of $374,700, at an average of $22,041 per head, to be the Day 1 leading consignor, followed by Kaizen Sales, which sold 12 of its 16 horses for a gross of $365,000, at an average of $30,417.

Tuesday’s session concluded with 175 yearlings traded of the 299 on offer for gross receipts of $3,308,500, recording a 46.7% decline year-over-year. The average price dipped 59.5% to $18,906 and a $12,000 median was down 65.7%. The 124 horses who failed to attain their reserve represent a 41.5% RNA rate.

A son of Omaha Beach  , consigned by Stuart Morris as Hip 193, went to Brown Water Stables for $100,000. The bay colt is out of Courageous Cajun, by Treasure Beach , a half sister to graded stakes placed stakes winner Cajun Delta Dawn .

Hip 279, consigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), agent for Spendthrift Farm, was purchased by Shepherd Equine Advisors, agent for Larry Hirsch, for $100,000. The bay Gormley   colt is a half brother to graded stakes winner Bye Bye , and both horses are out of the Smart Strike mare Garnet.

The sale continues Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. ET, with Hips 401-755 heading through the ring. As of Tuesday evening, 48 yearlings had been withdrawn from the final session.
