This is a collection of BMW 520i M Sportadded to the local G60 5 Series range earlier this month. Retailing at RM349,800 on-the-road without insurance, the new 520i M Sport is RM17,000 more expensive than the Non-M Sport variants was launched in early May this year.

Do note that the price mentioned for the 520i M Sport does not include the BMW Service & Repair package which includes a five-year warranty and servicing. With this package, RM26,900 is added, bringing the total to RM376,700.

The differences between the two 520i versions are mainly cosmetic, with the M Sport getting a more aggressive-looking exterior that comes with M High-gloss Shadowline accents and 19-inch 935 M bi-color alloy wheels in a double-spoke style.

By comparison, the non-M Sport version gets a more “pure” exterior with satin aluminum accents and 19-inch 934 aerodynamic wheels in two-tone gray. Both variants get the Iconic Glow kidney grille as standard.

Likewise, the interior of the 520i duo gets perforated and quilted Vegananza leather, front sport seats and a graphite headliner. However, the M Sport combines these with aluminium diamond-cut trim and M Dark Silver accents and an M leather steering wheel, while the non-M Sport version gets ash-grey fine wood trim with Dark Silver accents.

One tech advantage the 520i M Sport gets is an augmented reality view for the head-up display, a feature not available on the lower-spec 520i. Other than these differences, the rest of the equipment list is identical for both variants.

The vehicle’s driver assistance systems integrated into Driving Assistant Plus include Adaptive Cruise Control with stop and go function, Lane Control and Steering Assistant and Lane Departure Warning. There is also Parking Assistant Plus as standard.

Mechanically, the 520i M Sport is identical to the 520i, with the B48 2.0-litre inline-four turbocharged petrol engine – featuring a 48V mild-hybrid system – delivering 208 PS (205 hp or 153 kW) and 330 Nm of torque, with power sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Performance figures are also identical, with a 0-100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 230 km/h.
