Blind dog locked in cage without food finally sees better days
The 2-year-old Boomer is a Pit Bull mix so it weighs about 50 pounds, but currently it weighs only 20 pounds. When rescuers found him, he was so malnourished that he couldn’t even stand up, and he was also blind. His body convulsed uncontrollably, but his eyes begged for help.
Boomer’s condition was critical as he was kept in a small cage without food for days. He will die if he continues without medical attention. Therefore, Every animal advocate take him in to give him a fighting chance, but they still need the community’s help more than ever.
Boomer to the edge of death
Boomer is weak, dirty, and full of fleas. It was an emotional situation, but the rescuers tried to think logically about the next steps for him. However, when they saw him wagging his tail despite his circumstances, they knew they had to do whatever it took to give him a better life.
“It was one of the worst cases they had ever seen, but while we were discussing options, it smacked its tail as if saying, ‘I’ll fight, if you help me.’ That tail smack broke everyone’s heart and we agreed he deserved every chance we could give him,” One By One wrote.

So the organization came up with a plan that included specialized small meals, medication, IV fluids, supplements, blood tests, and supportive care to help him get back in shape. Despite being extremely ill and underweight, Boomer responded positively to the treatment and seemed eager to keep fighting.
Kindness saves Boomer’s life!
After just a few weeks of care, things started to settle down for Boomer. He is maintaining his weight and is now walking on his own. He also seems to have some vision now. He is very cuddly and affectionate, and he has a strong will to live.
“Just checking to tell you I gained a ton of weight, and everyone seems so excited! They also said it was time for me to need more calories for the older boy and I think that sounds great! Gotta go and eat!” ‘Boomer’ wrote in a Facebook post.
Boomer has made a lot of progress since admission, but he still has a long way to go and his recovery will be costly. So iHeartDogs is hold a fundraiser to help Boomer get the best care possible. Consider donating to help this amazing puppy live his best life!
