‘He could be a class difference’
Nicky Henderson trained by Nicky Fusil Raffles must definitely down as one of the luckiest winners of the season. He won the Charlie Hall Chase race but was awarded it on a plate after Shan Blue parted ways with the final rider. At the time, he was about 20 lengths away from the winner but his line of sight was lowered here anyway to handicap.
Fusil Raffles is a very young chaser. At just six years old, the world is his oyster over the fence and he’s won a newbie contest here in the past, so so is form and all that important experience. . His mark looks pretty lenient to me – he’s a class operator and wouldn’t have to worry about a Shan Blue in the field. He could be a different caste. – Adrian Wall
‘I’m confused about the price to pay’
Cheltenham It’s a unique place and the course format is essential, so I’m confused with the price Siruh Du Lac. It’s time for his last six runs Cheltenham, including a pair of course and distance wins in early 2019. His most recent success was at Martin Pipe at the Festival and he’s just two pounds above that mark in this bout.
In his last two runs, he joined David Pipe, and made headlines with his hurdles when he reappeared last time. Three miles stretched him that day, but he only weakened at the bend after plunging into the proceedings. Back over the fence, on his favorite ride of the 2m 4f, I think he has an excellent chance each way under Tom Scudamore. – Owen Goulding
