Bidding Begins for Iowa Stalls Season Auction
Bidding is currently underway during the Iowa Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association Season Auction 2022, which will feature seasons for more than 140 stallions marked by services from Airdrie Stud, Calumet Farm, Darby Dan Farm, Darley, Gainesway and Spendthrift Farm.
Potential buyers can bid through December 12 at 8pm ET/7pm CT for stallions from stallions including Gainesway’s McKinzie Darby Dan’s Called in and Calumet Farm Ice Keen by going to www.thoroughbred.com/sites/itboa. The auction offers dynamic bidding, which will extend the bidding time by five minutes if bids are made within five minutes after the auction ends.
“We expect to see a very competitive auction based on the quantity and quality of the stallions being auctioned this year,” said ITBOA President Steve Renftle. “The auction has opened with offerings available from nearly 150 different stallions standing in Kentucky and 18 other states.”
Thoroughbred website visitors can access the breeding and racing history of stallions, and click through to see detailed information provided by the stallions.
Renftle added: “The proceeds from the 2022 Stallion Season Auction will fund the wallets offered in the ITBOA Stallion Stakes races in 2026 and 2027.” “We want contractors to check the site regularly as the season list of donated stallions is updated daily.”
