Bentley W12 engine production will officially end in April 2024

We already know Bentley The W12 engine has had an expiration date before, but it will appear faster than expected. Revealed today, Bentley says its final W12 engine will be released in April 2024. That’s just a year and a few months away!

Before, Bentley made it clear that it will only sell PHEVs and EVs in 2026, meaning the W12 is out. It won’t last long enough to reach the 2026 limit when the end of 2024 production has been set. At the time of its end date Rolls Bentley has produced more than 105,000 W12 engines since the 6.0-liter twin-turbo engine was introduced in 2003. Each of those engines is handcrafted by a team of craftsmen — Bentley says each engine takes about 6.5 hours to complete.

What Bentley models will be offered with these final W12s, you ask? The real celebration for Bentley is happening with Batur, a line of small coupes built by Mulliner based on continent GT. Final validation just completed for Batur version of W12 and this is the strongest version in 740 737 lb-ft of horsepower and torque. Compared to the W12 found in other Bentley models, the Batur features a reworked intake, exhaust and cooling system along with revised engine tuning. Unfortunately, all 18 Baturs (pictured below) were used.

If you still want a W12, Bentley says they only have a limited number of orders left for Continental GT Speed, Speed Bentayga And Flight speed. Alternatively, Bentley will let you specify it in either Continental GT Mulliner or Spur Mulliner Airplane. No other new Bentley orders will be compatible with the W12 between now and completion of production. The company warns that there are only a limited number of build slots left, so anyone still wondering should act fast if they want W12.

Over the years, Bentley says the W12 has increased power by 37%, increased torque by 54% and decreased by 25%. emissions. The biggest changes came in 2015 when Bentley redesigned the engine “from the tank” for the launch of the Bentayga SUVs.

As of today, there are 30 people involved in the engine assembly process. Bentley says it aims to retrain and redeploy all 30 people to different positions after W12 production ceases.
