The white by Benjamin Moore Decorator feels like a real, bright white. However, it has some depth and interest that makes it more unique than a clear white. With almost no soft gray tones, it’s well-suited for many different locations in your home, but lighting conditions are important.

That’s why I’ll be showing you it in various beautiful spaces throughout this post, including the master bathroom we’re updating. It’s helpful to see a color in the actual house!

If your room faces North, Decor White can show more cool tones. But in warmer light (south or west facing) it will usually have a more realistic white, even a little warmer.

It’s beautiful with the gray tones of marble tablemaking it a great choice for kitchen installations.

Light reflectance value (LRV)

Decorator’s White has LRV (Light reflectance value) out of a total of 84.6. Click through to learn more about LRV, which is an important factor in choosing your paint color!

This system is a scale used by design professionals. Basically, 0 = the darkest black and 100 is the actual white paint. The higher this number, the more light the paint color reflects. So, the more “white” the paint color is, the higher this number is.

For comparison purposes, Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace (one of my favorite whites, and also on the cool side of the spectrum) has an LRV of 92. That means the Decor White is not quite as “white” as you might initially think!

Since this is a slightly cooler white, it pairs beautifully with all your favorite cool greys, greens and blues.

Cut paint to pair with OC -149

Avoid combining any creamy white with yellow tones next to Deco White. They will compete and make this look dirtier or grayer. Pair it with a real bright white or a cooler white.

Snowbound has a similar LRV, at 83 compared to Decorator White’s 84. It also has the same cool, gray tone, so this would be a great paint sample comparison since they are pretty similar!

Decorator’s White vs White doves

White doves has an LRV of 85, very close to Decorator’s White. However, the tones of the white dove are a bit warmer and grayer.

Decorator’s White vs Ren Chantilly

Chantilly Lace has a significantly higher LRV, at 92, but it has a very similar cool white background. They go well together for decor and walls, for that reason!
