Bayern Munich beat Bochum 7-0, Mane scored twice

Sadio Mané scored two more goals as Bayern Munich avenged last season’s rare defeat by beating Bochum 7-0 again in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

Mané has scored three goals in as many games since moving from Liverpool during the season.

Bochum did not face the Senegal star last season when Thomas Reis’ side stunned Bayern with a 4-2 home win in February.

“It was a great game for us, people are still talking about it,” Reis said before kick-off on Sunday.

But hopes of a repeat were dashed by memories of the two teams’ previous encounter, a 7-0 loss in Munich, which was Bochum’s heaviest defeat in the Bundesliga.

Bayern have scored eight goals in two games this season and the visitors didn’t have to wait long for Leroy Sané to open the scoring in the fourth minute.

Sané brought in Thomas Müller and Kingsley Coman and the player then pulled the ball back for Sané to hit the right side of the post.

Manuel Riemann saved Sané’s next effort 10 minutes into the match, and the German winger shot from close range 10 minutes later.

Matthijs de Ligt headed home from a corner in round 25 for his first goal for Bayern since joining Juventus. The Dutch defender made his debut for his new club.

Coman scored a third – a gift from the Bochum defense – on the 33rd, when Riemann saved Müller’s initial effort.

Mané had the ball back in the net in the 40th minute, but the goal was ruled out because it was in his hands. But the Senegal forward didn’t have to wait long before Coman scored for him in the 43rd minute. Mané dodged Saidy Janko and shot the ball into the near corner.

Mané erred for Riemann to score from the penalty spot in the 59th minute, 10 minutes before Cristian Gamboa’s own own goal when he tried to stop Sané˙from picking up a Serge Gnabry pass.

Gnabry got his seventh goal in his 76th game. Manuel Neuer rejected Gerrit Holtmann’s belated consolation.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s long wait to win the league continued before that when Jan Thielmann scored late to help Cologne equalize 1-1. Daichi Kamada considered the end of Frankfurt’s 10-match winless streak when he scored in the 71st minute, but Thielmann equalized in the 82nd minute for the visitors.
