Basset Hound is elected mayor of a Colorado town
It’s official, we went to the dogs. At least that’s the case in Colorado, where the town of Littleton now has a Bassett terrier who is an elected official.
Based on Denver News 7Mayor Kyle Schlachter, who was recently elected to office, said no one had asked him about the extraordinary ballots.
Looks like people directly elected the bassett terrier as mayor, so Schlachter has to share his title.
Katherine Roxborough of Historic Littleton, Inc., had the following to say to the news station on the subject: “We did not elect a human being. The candidates are of the canine type. “
They elected the dog as honorary mayor because they wanted to raise awareness. To run for office, canine candidates must pose for photos in front of historic sites throughout Littleton town.
More than 6000 votes were cast and the winner was a five-year-old Bassett Hound named Mardoch.
In an interview with Denver 7 News, the human of Mardoch said he loves people and gives others the most passionate, heavy kisses.
Interestingly, half of the people who voted for Mardoch voted for the town’s mayor. Mayor Schlachter even mentioned that the campaign cycle is shorter, so it’s hard to say how far this will go.
The human mayor said he feels confident, especially since he has a four-year term and the dog only has a two-year term.
Meanwhile, Mayor Mardoch is making the most of his time in office. He goes for walks every day, shaking hands with as many people as he can. We’re not sure if he’s kissing an infant.
