Bangkok 2023: Honda Civic Type R FL5 opens for pre-order in Thailand tomorrow, hot hatch worth RM520,000!
A Honda Civic for more than RM500k? You should believe it! Latest CHEAP Honda Civic present at the 2023 Bangkok International Motor Show and the official price of the FL5 has been revealed to be 3,990,000 baht, or RM520,000.
Who does crazy things like this, some may ask. I don’t know, but watch it fly off the shelf, figuratively, tomorrow morning. Limited units will be available for the Thai market and those interested must register on Honda Thailand’s official website at 10 am tomorrow, March 22. I guess the demand will go far beyond that. supply, even at 4 million baht a piece, so it would be like a vote.
Like its predecessor, FK8, the FL5 model uses a 2.0-liter KC20C1 twin-turbo engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission to drive the front wheels. Slightly more power – the Japanese-spec model produces 330 hp at 6,500 rpm and 420 Nm of torque from 2,600 to 4,000 rpm; this is 10 PS and 20 Nm more than before.
The higher numbers are due to the redesigned turbocharger, where the size, shape and number of turbine blades have been optimized along with the intake air path. Other changes include an increased intake air flow rate as well as a more efficient exhaust system. The latter has a see-through design and an active exhaust valve. They have improved Active Sound Control.
Besides the powertrain, the effective open area of the radiator has been increased by 48% thanks to the expansion of the grille. There’s also a lighter flywheel and the rev-matching system has been revised for more precision. The 6MT also features a stiffened gear lever and gearshift port style optimized for more direct and precise gearshifts, and comes with a helical LSD and an aluminum gear lever.
