Ballon d’Or results: Live updates and standings for football’s top prizes
We may not know who will win the 2021 Ballon d’Or, but what is certain is that there will be plenty of heated debate after the winners were announced at a gala dinner held on Thursday. Two in Paris.

How does Ballon d’Or voting work?
NS The France Football editorial board compiles the shortlist among the finalists for each award before distribution to voters with voting closing on October 24.
A panel of 180 journalists from around the world was asked to vote (via a secure email system) on criteria including individual and team performance in 2021, talent and team spirit. the player’s athletic performance as well as the player’s overall career.

About 40 to 50 female football journalists vote for the Women’s Ballon d’Or, while 32 men’s Ballon d’Or winners vote for the best male under-21 player (Kopa Trophy).
Each Ballon d’Or voter (male and female) voted for their top five, and each vote has a total score:
- No.1: 6 points
- 2nd place: 4 points
- 3rd place: 3 points
- 4th place: 2 points
- 5th place: 1 point
Voters for Kopa Trophy and Yashin Trophy submitted the top three, and that scoring system works a little differently:
- No.1: 5 points
- 2nd place: 3 points
- 3rd place: 1 point
Voting results will be published in the weekly edition of France Football on December 4.
