BAIC X55 2024 Full Collection in Malaysia – 188 PS 1.5T, 7DCT; Rivals X70, CR-V; Price from RM12xk to RM14xk Estimated
Official price for BAIC X55 is expected to be unveiled this month but before that happens, we bring you the full gallery of the C-segment SUV (in pre-production form) that will be made available in CKD form in Q4 this year, locally assembled in EP Manufacturing Plant (EPMB) in Melaka.
The X55 will be available in Standard and Premium versions, with Estimated price from RM12X.xxx to RM14x.xxx. If you are interested, BAIC Malaysia is currently holding a price guessing contest for the X55 and BJ40 Plus, with prizes being discount vouchers.
In terms of dimensions, the X55 is 4,620 mm long, 1,886 mm wide, 1,680 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,735 mm. In the C-class SUV segment, the BAIC model is nearly 100 mm longer, 55 mm wider and only 14 mm lower than the X70while its 2,735 mm wheelbase is 65 mm longer. Compared to CR-VThe X55 is 71mm shorter overall, despite a 34mm increase in wheelbase.
All variants of the X55 will come with a 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine that produces 188 PS and 305 Nm of torque. The direct-injection mill is mated to a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the front wheels, allowing for a 0-100 km/h time of 7.8 seconds. Fuel consumption is rated at 7.2 l/100 km according to the WLTP standard.
On the exterior, the BAIC SUV is equipped with L-shaped LED daytime running lights, LED headlights, pop-up door handles, a split rear spoiler, and quad exhaust pipes (which will be installed on customer cars). The car shown here is equipped with 19-inch wheels and Hankook Dynapro HP2 tires measuring 225/55.
Moving inside, you’ll find dual 10-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment, the latter of which incorporates controls for the dual-zone climate control system (with rear vents) and is paired with a six-speaker audio system. Other notable features include a “floating” center console, plenty of storage, a wireless charging pad, smart key and start, a panoramic glass sunroof, a rearview camera, an electric tailgate, and six airbags.
The X55 comes standard with power front seats, and on this Premium trim they have memory, heating, and ventilation. The Premium also gets real red leather upholstery as opposed to the Standard’s faux leather, along with a ten-color ambient lighting system.
As we alluded to earlier, the level of driver assistance systems offered remains unknown. The pre-production unit you see here doesn’t have them, but we’ve been told that finished versions will come with forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and blind spot warning.
