Santa Anita . Park will be getting some high-priced horse meat soon after the end of the three-day March Ocala Breeder Sale for 2-year-olds during the Ocala Training Sale this week.

Baffert, who was already there for sale, returned to Santa Anita on March 23.
“It’s good to see some trainers from California buying horses, it’s very important,” Baffert said. “I’m not sure how many horses will come back here, maybe not as many as in previous years, but it’s important to see the owners and trainers there buying horses.”
Also making headlines on sale are Southern California-based owners Lee and Susan Searing, who race as CRK Stable. Bidding as Investment Parks, Searings purchased three fillings for a total of $1.65 million. With trainer John Shirreffs at his side, Searing’s most expensive purchase was his $950,000 daughter. “It seems like it. They have a great platform that has worked a few times to sell,” Shirreffs said. “Hopefully things go well and they go along.”
Baffert points out that it could be a little longer before the top seller does the races.
“Some of the animals we bought there, we give them a little discount, let them stay on the farm for 30 days,” Baffert said. “Some of us will continue. But there are some we think will get better as they get older. We’ll just put them out here and see how they go.”
The first 2-year-old races of the year in Southern California are scheduled to take place over the weekend of April 28-30 in Santa Anita. The number of 2-year-olds ready to participate in the race usually increases during the summer months at Del Mar.
