Baffert, Shirreffs excited about customers’ OBS purchases


Santa Anita . Park will be getting some high-priced horse meat soon after the end of the three-day March Ocala Breeder Sale for 2-year-olds during the Ocala Training Sale this week.

“Some of the animals we bought there, we give them a little discount, let them stay on the farm for 30 days,” Baffert said. “Some of us will continue. But there are some we think will get better as they get older. We’ll just put them out here and see how they go.”

The first 2-year-old races of the year in Southern California are scheduled to take place over the weekend of April 28-30 in Santa Anita. The number of 2-year-olds ready to participate in the race usually increases during the summer months at Del Mar.
