It’s been over a year since Backscatter was published Its initial review of the Z9. Much as DPG . ratingundertaken by Nicolas Remy, Backscatter performance is blown away by the performance of the highest-end mirrorless cameras, from beautifully detailed 46MP images and lightning-fast autofocus to 20fps continuous shooting (14-bit RAW files) and impressively long battery life. When Backscatter updated the review after having had a chance to test the video, they were also amazed at the quality of footage the Z9 was able to produce—a huge upgrade over any other Nikon camera.
Now, the Backscatter boys are lucky enough to play well with Z9’s “little brother”—the Z8—and as you might have guessed, it’s more like that. That’s not a bad thing, because as you may have heard, the Z8 is essentially the same camera as the Z9 but in a smaller package (with half battery power and no memory card slot). IN Rate their videos Around this time, Backscatter CEO Jim Decker and Media Manufacturer Robin Dodd discussed how the Z8 and Z105mm the combination is for close-ups, how fast the continuous shooting speed allows you to take action, and the amazing quality of video you can achieve with the Z8.
Of course, Jim and Robin didn’t turn off the Z8 completely. Similar caveats happened with the Z9 that took another outing—flash sync speed and ambient light custom white balance, we’re talking about you!—but from Backscatter’s perspective, these weren’t deal-breakers at all. Overall, there seems to be no doubt that the Z8 will sell well, and as Jim pointed out, “Anyone would make a case for this camera.”
