The Shooting at Old National Bank in Louisville, Kentucky, beginning at about 8:30 a.m. ET, police said, about 30 minutes before the bank opened to the public.

Caleb Goodlett, a banker, called her husband while she was sheltering in a locked cellar, the husband, Caleb Goodlett told CNN. WLKY. When he called 911, police knew about the shooting, he said.
“Just received a very traumatic phone call,” Goodlett told the branch, adding that he had met his wife and that she was fine.
Police officials said the gunman, still shooting when police arrived, was killed in a gunfight with officers.
Nickolas Wilt, a 26-year-old rookie officer, ran toward gunfire and was shot in the head, Louisville Metro Interim Sheriff Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel said. He graduated from the police academy just 10 days before the shooting. The sheriff said Wilt had undergone brain surgery and was in a critical but stable condition Monday afternoon.

Semi-automatic rifles are the most popular sport rifle in the US, and 30% of gun owners said they already own an AR-15 or similar-style rifle, according to a 2021 report National Arms Survey. The AR-15 and its offshoots have been the weapon of choice in many of the most horrifying mass shootings in recent memory, including the Covenant rifle shooting in Nashville just two weeks ago.
The bank is located on the edge of a growing business district in downtown Louisville, state Senator Gerald Neal, who represents the county where the shooting happened, told CNN.
