Dozens of firefighters battle the blaze on the 15th floor of the Tower of London | UK News
About 80 firefighters are battling a fire at a 17-storey apartment complex in south-east London.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said an apartment on the 15th floor of the tower in St Mark’s Square, Bromley was also on fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Footage posted on social media showed flames and black smoke billowing from part of the slanted roof.
Station Commander Colin Digby, who was on the scene, said: “The crews are making steady progress. This is going to be a protracted incident and we expect our crews to be able to. be at the scene in the next few hours.”
Firefighters were called shortly before midday and remained at the scene.
The fire brigade used a 64 meter long turntable ladder to tackle the fire.
Teams from Bromley, Beckenham, Addton, Woodside, Lewisham, Forest Hill, Sidcup and Croydon and surrounding fire stations were involved in tackling the blaze.
