Astroworld Security Guards Hired ‘Onsite’
A security guard at Astroworld said he was hired at the last minute and didn’t have any experience.
“I don’t believe I’m prepared,” Jackson Bush said. “I believe that if we all prepared properly, things wouldn’t have turned out the way they did. Honestly, even with the number of people passing and unconscious… the number of injuries… avoidable.”
He said the guards were paid about $17 per hour.
9 people died in the Astroworld mob. The death toll could rise.
“Everybody in that venue, starting with the artist and down, has a responsibility to public safety,” Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña told CNN earlier this week.
“I’m not prepared to say he’s fully aware – of what’s going on,” he said. “All I’m saying is everyone at that event – artists down, security and everyone there for public safety, including the crowd, right? — in general, we all have a responsibility when it comes to attending these venues to ensure each other’s safety. We are one community at these events.”
